Hi, Hamburg! — Canteen consultancy service launches on the Elbe
Speiseräume comes to Hamburg – we’re launching the NEUE KANTINE HAMBURG project! Over the next two years, we’ll be offering free consultancy services to Hamburg’s communal catering sector and promoting sustainable catering in the Hanseatic city.
The contract, awarded by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the Ministry for the Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture (BUKEA), forms part of a wider strategy: It forms part of the transformation process towards a sustainable agricultural sector in Hamburg (‘Zukunft Agrar +2045’) and the development of a Hamburg food strategy. Speiseräume’s training programmes are a key component in the practical implementation of the city’s objectives.
Kitchens from all sectors are eligible to take part, ranging from nurseries and schools to hospitals, caterers and staff canteens. Over the course of several months of consultancy, workshops and on-site support in the kitchens will focus on working together to bring more organic, regional and artisanal produce onto plates without affecting the budget.
At the well-attended launch event on 27 March, many kitchens had already expressed their interest.
